PLATE LUNCH
HAWAIIAN ANIMATED SERIES
SERIES OVERVIEW:
Plate Lunch is an animated series that follows a diverse crew of eight locals who share two things in common: skateboarding and serving plate lunches to Hawai‘i’s houseless community.
Each day begins with the crew linking up across O‘ahu’s parks, prepping food, stacking plates, and serving meals to those in need.
Once the plate lunches are served up, they grab their boards and gear, ready to get in a skate session — but things never go quite as planned. The crew constantly finds themselves sidetracked or interrupted by unexpected situations that pull them into spontaneous adventures across the island. Whether it’s stumbling into trouble, uncovering hidden places, or running into offbeat locals, the crew has to stick together, figure things out, and roll through whatever comes their way.
Along the journey, they level up their skating, unlock new tricks, build deeper friendships, find love in unlikely places, and discover skate spots they never knew existed.
Plate Lunch blends skate culture, island life, and authentic connection — grounded in real issues and driven by Aloha Spirit, respect for the ʻĀina, and Hawai‘i’s natural beauty.

CHARACTER NAME: HAOLE BOY
Age: Young Adult
Hometown: Kalihi, Oʻahu, Hawaiʻi
Role: Clumsy Crew Leader / Heart of the Team
Haole Boy is the lovable, clumsy leader of the skateboard crew — a Hawaiian-Italian from the streets of Kalihi with a big heart and an even bigger personality. He’s easy to spot because he only wears red. If it’s not red? He’s not wearing it. Period.
Despite being the worst skater in the crew (and constantly eating pavement), Haole Boy is fearless — always charging into adventures with zero hesitation and a smile on his face. Somehow, no matter how many wipeouts he takes, he walks away like nothing happened. Call it luck or island magic, he keeps bouncing back.
Off the board, Haole Boy is all about community. He’s passionate about helping Hawaiʻi’s houseless ʻohana and is often seen whipping up plate lunches and handing them out with love. His spirit is infectious — funny, eccentric, full of island style, and totally original.
He’s deep into hip hop, fashion, and drip — never seen without his signature jewelry. Wherever he goes, you’ll usually find his loyal dog Ekahi by his side, or his ride-or-die girlfriend Tita, who keeps him grounded… mostly.
Underneath the goofy charm is a real leader — someone who’d give the shirt off his back (as long as it’s red) to help someone in need.
CHARACTER NAME: HAOLE BOY

CHARACTER NAME: TITA
Age: Young Adult
Hometown: Kalihi, Oʻahu, Hawaiʻi
Role: Pro Skater / The Wahine With the Willpower
Tita is the fiery heartbeat of the crew — a fierce, loud, and lovable wahine from Kalihi who brings energy everywhere she goes. She's bubbly and bold, with a voice that turns heads and a laugh that lights up the block. If there’s a mic nearby, she’s grabbing it. Whether it’s karaoke or an open mic, Tita’s singing her heart out — and dancing like nobody’s watching (even when everyone is).
She’s also a force to be reckoned with on the board — a professional female skateboarder who never stops grinding, literally and figuratively. While Haole Boy might lead the crew, it’s Tita who keeps everyone in line. She doesn’t play games, doesn’t tolerate drama, and will shut down the nonsense real quick — all while doing a kickflip.
Underneath her tough-as-concrete exterior is a deeply compassionate soul. She’s always down to roll up her sleeves and help make plate lunches with Haole Boy, passing them out to the houseless ʻohana with love and respect.
Strong, independent, and unapologetically herself, Tita is the kind of wahine who lifts others up — then shreds right past them with a smirk. She’s the glue of the crew, the voice of reason, and the rhythm that keeps the heart of Kalihi pumping.
CHARACTER NAME: TITA

CHARACTER NAME: EKAHI
CHARACTER NAME: EKAHI
Age: Young Pup
Breed: Jack Russell × Chihuahua
Hometown: Kalihi, Oʻahu, Hawaiʻi
Role: Skateboarding Sidekick / Agent of Adorable Chaos
Born in the streets of Kalihi, Ekahi is the fast-paced, snack-obsessed, tail-wagging troublemaker of the crew — a spunky Jack Russell-Chihuahua mix who is Hawaiian at heart, who lives for two things: skateboards and lau-lau (and not necessarily in that order).
She’s almost always seen rolling alongside Haole Boy on her own skateboard, zipping through the streets like a furry little rocket. Ekahi may be cute, but don’t let the big eyes fool you — she’s a walking whirlwind of mischief. Whether she’s stealing the first Plate Lunch or knocking over a mic stand just to sing along, chaos tends to follow wherever she goes. But it's the kind of chaos that makes everyone smile.
Ekahi is fun-loving, clumsy, curious, and full of boundless energy. She dances to reggae, barks on beat, and lives for attention. When she teams up with Haole Boy, it’s usually a recipe for disaster — the hilarious, can’t-look-away kind. But deep down, she’s got a heart of gold and a love for her crew that runs deeper than the ocean.
She’s also tight with Tita, and the two are often caught putting on spontaneous dance shows or singing duets like it’s a sold-out concert.
Ekahi is the calm’s worst nightmare and the storm’s best friend — but somehow, everything feels more fun when she’s around.

CHARACTER NAME: UCE
Age: Older Adult
Hometown: Waiʻanae, Oʻahu, Hawaiʻi
Role: Bodyguard / Big Bruh Energy / Island Hype Man
UCE is the crew’s Samoan teddy bear from the west side — a big dude with an even bigger heart. He’s the jokester, the peacekeeper, the protector, and the one always yelling “Chee hoo!” loud enough to shake the rooftops.
Always chasing love but never quite catching it, Uce is on a never-ending (and hilarious) mission to win over Lei’hana. He gets close… real close… but never quite seals the deal. Still, he keeps trying, with that same lovable charm that somehow makes rejection funny every time.
When there's action, Uce is in the middle of it — breaking up fights, accidentally starting new ones, or getting buss up by some local wahine who wasn't playing. Whether he’s playing bodyguard for the crew or just vibing on the sidelines, he’s always got everyone's back.
You’ll usually catch him strumming a ukulele, sipping on a cup of kava, and humming a tune. And if a mic’s nearby, he’s jamming with Tita, freestyling with Haole Boy, or getting the party started just by walking in the room. He’s loud, proud, and unapologetically full of life.
Uce lives for skateboarding, feeding the houseless ʻohana, and keeping the crew safe. He might take the most hits — emotionally and physically — but his heart stays full, and his love for the people around him never wavers.
The muscle. The melody. The mood. That’s Uce.
CHARACTER NAME: UCE

CHARACTER NAME: KAI BOY
Age: Young Adult
Hometown: Windward Side, Oʻahu, Hawaiʻi
Role: Concrete Surfer / Fire Dancer / Crew Enforcer
Kai Boy is the island warrior of the crew — a Hawaiian native from the Windward side, born with saltwater in his veins and lava in his heart. With a sharp mind and a sharper tongue, he’s outspoken, fearless, and always ready to throw hands if respect gets crossed. But behind the intensity is someone deeply grounded in aloha — proud of his roots, his crew, and his culture.
Whether he’s riding waves or grinding rails, Kai Boy moves with purpose. As a pro surfer and skateboarder, he’s constantly switching between ocean and street, making it all look effortless. He’s a natural athlete with a serious presence, and people notice — especially the ladies. He’s got that silent flame thing going on with Lei’hana, but neither of them ever fully take the leap. Still, the tension’s there.
He’s also a skilled hula dancer and fire dancer, known for spinning flames like it's second nature. At any given moment, he might be dancing with fire, commanding a crowd, or locking eyes with someone mid-performance — he owns the moment every time.
Despite his tough edge, Kai Boy’s all about the crew. He’s the first to show up when it’s time to serve plate lunches and always makes sure everyone else eats before he does. He believes in honor, tradition, and putting others first.
Strong, serious, and spiritual — Kai Boy is the fire that never dies down.
CHARACTER NAME: KAI BOY

CHARACTER NAME: JERRY
Age: Young Adult
Hometown: Military Bases / Oʻahu Local
Role: Silent Sleeper / Asphalt Soldier / Heavy Hitter
Jerry is an interesting one — a Filipino military brat with deep cultural roots and a heavy presence. On the surface, he’s the crew’s sleepyhead — always caught snoring in his Mustang, under a banyan tree, stretched across a park bench, or crashed beneath the plate lunch table. But behind that calm exterior is a storm waiting to be triggered.
Sweet, kind, and chill by nature, Jerry carries a serious edge that comes straight from his military upbringing. He’s disciplined, sharp, and built tough — Thor’s hammer in human form. He takes hits, gets back up, and never breaks stride. You mess with the crew? Jerry’s the one stepping up, no hesitation.
He’s got a thing for watches, always scheming on how to get his hands on the next shiny one. When he’s not passed out somewhere, he’s probably rolling through town with Uce, scoping out wahine and cracking jokes with a smirk on his face.
But where Jerry truly comes alive is on his board. Pavement is his home turf — he lives for the streets, skating like the asphalt owes him something. Whether he’s on the move or laid back in a hammock, Jerry brings a heavy, grounded energy to the crew.
And when it’s time to serve? He’s right there, helping stack plate lunches, making sure the job gets done before he disappears for another nap. He's quiet when he wants to be, intense when he needs to be — a dependable force built on cinderblocks and loyalty.
Jerry’s not loud, but when he moves… the island feels it.
CHARACTER NAME: JERRY

CHARACTER NAME: LEI'HANA
Age: Young Adult
Hometown: Raised Between Waikīkī & Chinatown, Oʻahu (Abandoned at A‘ala Park)
Role: Skate Queen / Hustler With Heart / Fix-It Femme
Lei’Hana is a walking contradiction in all the best ways — mouthy but chill, fierce but graceful, street-hardened but full of soul. She’s a Hawaiian wahine with waves in her spirit and fire in her words. Born into the struggle and abandoned at A‘ala Park as a baby, she fought her way up through the alleys of Chinatown and the buzz of Waikīkī, learning early how to survive, hustle, and own her place in the world.
Don’t let the lip gloss fool you — she’s the most talented skater in the crew, hands down. Every grind, every trick, every drop? She makes it look effortless. And when she’s not skating? She’s fixing broken boards, tightening loose screws, or helping prep plate lunches with the same focus and fire. She’s not afraid to get her hands dirty — whether it's building something or breaking expectations.
Strong, independent, and all about action, Lei’Hana thrives where others hesitate. She’s the kind of person who wants the fastballs, lives for the chaos, and somehow always finds balance through it all. She’s both tomboy and girly girl, depending on the mood — one moment covered in grease, the next rocking fresh nails and making it look easy.
She hangs out at the skate park like it’s her second home, surrounded by concrete and freedom. The crew respects her not just for her skills, but for her story — and while she’s got a playful tension with Kai Boy, neither of them ever cross the line. Too much pride… or maybe too much timing.
Lei’Hana is proof that beauty, grit, and hustle can exist in one wild, unstoppable soul.
CHARACTER NAME: LEIHANA

CHARACTER NAME: HOKU
Age: Child
Hometown: Unknown — She Just Appeared One Day
Role: The Curious Kid / Wannabe Skater / Little Star in the Shadows
Hoku means “star” in Hawaiian… but if you ask her, she’ll say she’s still figuring out how to shine. She’s not famous, not flashy, and not the best skater — yet. But what she is, is determined, curious, and unforgettable. With her wide eyes, scraped-up knees, and a heart full of wonder, Hoku shows up when you least expect her and somehow always finds herself in the middle of the crew’s latest adventure.
No one really knows where she goes when she’s not with the crew. She just appears like clockwork when the plate lunches are served — every single time — whispering a prayer over the crew before digging in like she hasn’t eaten in days. She's got a huge, not-so-secret crush on Uce, and is always seen chasing him around, trying to get his attention (and usually failing in the funniest ways). Still, she never gives up.
Hoku wants to be just like the older kids. She throws on a helmet way too big for her, grabs a deck, and tries her hardest to keep up. She falls, she gets mad, she throws a fit... but then she breathes, learns, and gets right back up. There’s something almost magical about her resilience.
She’s short, sweet, a little spicy, and full of mystery. No one knows much about her home life, but what they do know is that Hoku brings light wherever she goes — not in the way of a star on a stage, but in the way of a spark that lights up everyone around her.
She’s not the star of the show… but she’s the star that keeps showing up.
And maybe that’s what matters most.
